Description

Activities:

The Sandy Spring Friends Prison Committee visits inmates in the Patuxent Institution, a state prison in Jessup, Maryland, twice monthly (the first and 3rd Mondays of every month), holding a service of spiritual sharing and worship. This Committee also publishes "The Prison Journal", a compilation of writings and artwork by prisoners. In addition, the Committee started developing a list of organizations that provide support to inmates. They also seek to address other prisoner issues as they arise.

How to Become Involved:

Membership in the SSF Prison Committee is open to any member or attendee of Sandy Spring Friends Meeting who has an interest in prison concerns. Members of this Committee do not need to commit to prison visitation, but may serve in other capacities.
