Sandy Spring Friends Meeting Meetings for Worship

The 9:30 Meeting is usually somewhat smaller with less vocal ministry than the 11:00 Meeting which includes our families with children. The children are part of the Meeting for Worship for about 20 minutes before moving to the Community House for their Sunday School classes. On the first Sunday of the month, our 11:00 open Meeting for Worship is replaced by a Meeting for Worship for the conduct of Business. In keeping with our testimony of simplicity, our dress is apt to be comfortable and practical, rather than stylish, when we meet together.

Most Sundays

Every Sunday at 9:30 AM and most Sundays at 11:00 AM. First Day School (Sunday School) is provided for children ages 3 and up after the first 20 minutes of Meeting for Worship. Nursery care is available during both Meetings for Worship. Tea coffee and fellowship follow the 11 o'clock meeting next door in the Community House. (Both buildings handicapped accessible)

Monthly Meeting Day Sundays (First Sundays)

First Sunday of the Month 9:30 Meeting for Worship is followed by our meeting for worship designated for consideration of our matters of business. This Meeting for Business, held in a spirit of worship, is open to interested attenders. At the conclusion of our business we gather in the Community House for a shared pot-luck meal. (No 11:00 Meeting for Worship is held first Sundays.) (Both buildings handicapped accessible)

Thursdays

7:30 PM - In the Meeting House. (Handicapped accessible)

Directions to Friends House: Friends House (17340 Quaker Lane, Sandy Spring, Maryland) is in Montgomery County in the community of Sandy Spring. Take Route 108 to Norwood Road and look for sign.

Sundays

11:30 AM — At Kerr Fellowship Hall, Boyds Presbyterian Church, White Ground Road, Boyds, Maryland.

Directions to Senaca Valley Preparative Meeting: From the south, take I-270 north to Exit 10, go north on Clopper Road through Germantown. At the 3-way stop sign where 117 turns right under the stone railroad bridge, continue straight through the stop sign, at the top of the hill the road turns left and is called White Ground Road, continue on White Ground past the white frame Boyds Presbyterian Church on the left. Turn left into the next driveway, for Kerr Fellowship Hall. Friends meet in the large upstairs room. Coming from the north, exit I-270 for 121 South, and follow 121 south to Boyds. Pass under the railroad bridge to the 3-way stop. Turn right at the stop sign and continue as above. (Not handicapped accessible.)

7:30 PM — A Course in Miracles class. Charles Keach. In the Community House.

Second & Fourth Sundays

9:30 AM — Bible study in the Community House.

Wednesdays

7:30 PM — Friends House & Friends Concert Chorale. In the Miller Center, Friends House.

Thursdays

10:00 AM — Caregivers Support Group. Call for information: 301-774-9792

Second Wednesdays

12 noon — Friends Lunch at NIH. Call Mark Van Raden at (301) 496-7065.

First Fridays

10:15 AM — United Society of Friends Women. In the Miller Center, Friends House.
