Spring Equinox Drum Circle
Shake off all this snow, and get ready for Spring! Mark your calendars for SATURDAY, MARCH 21 when Sandy Spring Friends will ring in the Spring Equinox with a drum circle led by professional drum circle facilitator Katy Gaughan! Light snacks will be served at 3:30 pm and the drumming starts promptly at 4:00. Don’t miss it!
Every human being has a heart beating like a drum. The pulse of life comes from each heart beat. When our rhythms are in sync, we feel better about ourselves. When our rhythms align to positive energy, we are uplifted. When our rhythms are given expression, our creativity awakens! So whether you're a first-time drummer or long time enthusiast, we hope Friends of all ages will join us in this intergenerational community building activity.
Katy is a certified Village Music Circles Global trainer and percussionist who has organized and hosted drum events in the Washington, DC area for over 15 years. Since 1999, she has been the percussionist for Djesben, a world-jazz-groove music trio, and she is a former member of Bele Bele Rhythm Collective, an all-women's drum troupe playing West African rhythm and songs.
