Open House!

Have you ever been curious about Quakers? What to know more about what it means to be a (capital F) Friend?

Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends is celebrating 273 years of Quaker faith and practice in Sandy Spring, Maryland. We invite all newcomers and seekers to join us on Sunday, September 13 to learn a little more about us. Who knows? Maybe you’re a Quaker yourself and didn’t even know it!

  • Our day starts at 10:30 am when you’re invited to join members of our Ministry & Counsel committee at an outdoor welcome circle! This is the place to ask all your questions about Quaker worship and faith. Don’t know what to ask? Start with, “What is a Meeting for Worship?” We’ll take it from there!

  • At 11:00 am, you’re invited to join our Meeting for Worship in our 200-year-old Meeting House. Running late? Don’t worry; some Friends will remain outside to welcome newcomers and show them into the Meeting House!

  • Bringing children? They are welcome to remain with you in Meeting for Worship or visit our First Day School in the Community House (just on the other side of the graveyard). A member of our Advancement & Outreach committee will help you find your way; just look for Friends wearing the green “Quakers Are Friends” buttons!

  • At rise of Meeting for Worship at 12:00 pm, join us for a Quaker cookout! Enjoy some great fellowship, lively music, and outdoor play in front of our beautiful historic graveyard. This is a great opportunity to meet Friends of all kinds!

  • Can’t stay for the whole day? We’re happy to have you for any part of our event!

  • Any questions before the open house? What do I wear? How long is Meeting for Worship? Where do I park? Feel free to explore our website or call us at (301) 774-9792 and ask to speak to Jim, our Meeting Coordinator!
